Description

Variety Origin: The Avis Varner peony belongs to the Lactiflora Group. It was bred and registered by American horticulturists, originating from a cross between cold-hardy North American peony lines and premium ornamental Asian varieties, and is certified by the American Peony Society (APS).
Key Characteristics: This cultivar features broad, gracefully spreading outer petals, with densely clustered central petals that rise to form a crown-like structure. The petals are thick, resilient, and tolerant of sun exposure and handling during transport, creating a strong three-dimensional visual effect.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers loose, fertile, and exceptionally well-drained sandy humus soil; avoid heavy clay soils and waterlogged areas. Bud break typically occurs from mid- to late March in spring, with new shoots emerging rapidly and uniformly.
The Avis Varner peony is a classic variety celebrated for its dual excellence in stress tolerance and practical value. Its core highlights include exceptional cold hardiness, an upright and stately plant habit, and outstanding performance as a cut flower.
