Variety Origin: Mary Jo Legare peony was bred in the mid-to-late 20th century by American breeder David Legare through distant hybridization of Chinese medicinal peony and the Japanese tree peony ‘Shima-nishiki’. After 8-10 years of selection, it was named in 1985, received APS certification, and was introduced to multiple countries.

Core Characteristics: The petals of Mary Jo Legare are numerous, thick, soft, and glossy.

Cultivation Performance: Mary Jo Legare is not demanding regarding soil type, growing best in loose, fertile, well-drained soil. It thrives in full sun and can also tolerate partial shade.

With its unique flower form, vibrant color, good adaptability, and ease of care, Mary Jo Legare peony has broad application prospects in landscaping, garden beautification, and cut flower production.
