Description

Variety Origin: Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt peony is a classic herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora), bred by American breeder Franklin and officially introduced and registered in 1932. It won the American Peony Society (APS) Gold Medal in 1948, becoming a world-renowned classic award-winning variety.

Core Characteristics: Petals are soft, moist, and thick, emitting a rich, sweet fragrance. It produces abundant flowers with numerous side shoots, offering high ornamental value.

Cultivation Performance: Extremely strong cold hardiness. Prefers full sun to partial shade environments; flowering is more abundant with ample light. Requires planting in a sheltered location. Prefers loose, fertile, well-drained neutral to slightly alkaline loam. Avoid heavy clay and waterlogged soil.

Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt peony, an APS Gold Medal-winning century-old classic, takes “abundant flowering and strong adaptability” as its core advantages. Suitable for solitary planting in home gardens and group planting in flower beds. Its regular flower form and long bloom period also make it excellent cut flower material.
