Description

Variety Origin: Myrtle Gentry peony is a classic herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora), bred by American breeder Edward Auten, successfully selected and officially introduced in 1928. It received an American Peony Society (APS) Honorable Mention in 1930, becoming a traditional renowned variety with both ornamental distinctiveness and market recognition.

Core Characteristics: The petals of Myrtle Gentry are thin, soft, moist, and slightly translucent. The flower stems have a high bloom set rate, offering outstanding ornamental value.

Cultivation Performance: Strong cold hardiness. Prefers full sun environments, requiring 6+ hours of light daily, but avoid intense direct sunlight; appropriate shading is needed during high summer temperatures. Prefers loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral loam. Avoid heavy clay, saline-alkaline, or waterlogged soil.

Myrtle Gentry peony takes “unique gradient coloration, crown-type double flowers, and delicate fragrance” as its core highlights. Suitable for solitary planting in home gardens and border arrangements. Its distinctive flower form and rare color also make it a choice material for high-end cut flowers.
