Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Don Hollingsworth, officially introduced and registered in 2005. It is an Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony).
Core Characteristics: Foliage is dark green and glossy, providing a long ornamental period. Petals are pure white with slightly ruffled edges, surrounding lemon-yellow stamens. Stigmas are pink, carpels are green. In cool springs, blooms may open with a slight red blush, with no prominent purple flares.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ample sunlight ensures pure color and an upright plant habit. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Cold hardy, can overwinter safely outdoors in temperate regions. Possesses strong disease resistance and good tolerance to common issues like black spot.
Love Affair is a classic pure white Itoh peony. Easy to care for, cold hardy, and disease resistant, it is an excellent choice for creating elegant landscapes or supplementing white-flowered plantings.
