Variety Origin: Mother’s Choice is a classic herbaceous peony (Paeonia x lactiflora), bred by renowned American breeder R.G. Klehm. It first flowered in 1968 and was officially registered in Illinois, USA in 1986.
Core Characteristics: Petals are soft, full, and silky to the touch. It produces no pollen or seeds and has abundant flowers with extremely high ornamental value.
Cultivation Performance: Extremely strong cold hardiness. Prefers full sun environments, requiring 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily. Prefers deep, fertile, well-drained loam, tolerates acidic, clay, and sandy soils. Avoid heavy clay and waterlogged soil.
Mother’s Choice peony takes “large double flowers, pink-white gradient coloration, and upright plant habit” as its core advantages. Suitable for solitary planting in home gardens, group planting in flower beds, and border backgrounds. It is a preferred variety in the high-end cut flower market.
