Variety Origin: Lavon peony is a perennial herbaceous hybrid variety of the genus Paeonia, successfully bred by breeder Hollingsworth in 1993. It received the Award of Merit certification in 1992.
Core Characteristics: Petals are numerous, broadly elliptic, with a thick, full texture and rich luster. Outer petals are open and expansive, inner petals are progressively and compactly arranged, forming a hemispherical, full flower form.
Cultivation Performance: Stems are tall but require support to avoid lodging due to flower weight. Prefers sun or tolerates partial shade. Suitable for growing in deep, loose, fertile, well-drained acidic to neutral soil, adaptable to clay, loam, and sandy soils.
With “large, double-flowered form and rich sweet fragrance” as its core advantages, it combines symmetrical layering, broad cold hardiness, and dual suitability for cut flowers and gardens.
