Variety Origin: Nick Shaylor belongs to the genus Paeonia in the family Paeoniaceae. It is a typical hybrid horticultural variety of Paeonia lactiflora, carefully cultivated by breeder Allison in 1931. It won the American Peony Society (APS) Gold Medal twice, in 1941 and 1972.
