Description

Variety Origin: ‘Pastel Splendor’ is an Itoh (Intersectional) Peony hybrid variety, bred by American breeders R.F. Anderson and Wm. Seidl. It first flowered in 1988 and was officially registered with the American Peony Society in 1996.

Core Characteristics: Buds are initially light lavender purple, gradually changing to pink as they open. The flower center is creamy white, with deep purple/red-purple flares at the base of the petals. The flower color exhibits a gradient effect throughout the blooming period.

Cultivation Performance: Strong cold hardiness, tolerating -30°C. Prefers full sun or partial shade environments. Needs planting in a sheltered location. Prefers fertile, well-drained neutral soil; maintain moderate moisture, avoid waterlogging.

‘Pastel Splendor’ is an Itoh hybrid peony combining the advantages of herbaceous peonies and tree peonies. Its core highlights are the color gradient, abundant flowering, and vigorous growth. With excellent cold and heat tolerance, it is suitable for both landscape planting and as a high-end cut flower.
