Variety Origin: An Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) jointly developed by American breeder Roger Anderson and Swenson Gardens, officially registered and released in 2018.
Core Characteristics: Petals feature uniform lavender pink and creamy white stripes, more pronounced towards the center. They are cup-shaped with ruffled edges. Stamens are present but lack pollen. Pistils are green and hairy with pink stigmas. Does not produce seeds.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ample sunlight ensures clear stripes, bright foliage color, and an upright plant habit. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Strictly avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot. Cold hardy, can overwinter safely outdoors in temperate regions; most northern areas require no additional winter protection. Division is best done in autumn. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases.
Out of Control is an Itoh peony with eye-catching striped flowers and unique foliage color.
