Variety Origin: This variety was bred by Wisconsin-based breeder Bill Seidl, with breeding number “Seidl #H-1.” It was registered by Nate Bremer in 2021 and officially recorded with the American Peony Society (APS).
Core Characteristics: Northwind Maiden features broad, rounded outer petals and smaller inner petals with notches and ruffles. It produces one flower per stem, opening into an elegant cup shape.
Cultivation Performance: Suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 6.5-7.0) sandy loam soil. Avoid heavy clay soil and waterlogged conditions, which can lead to root rot.
