Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Roger Anderson, officially registered and released in 2012. It is an Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony). First flowered in 2002 and began propagation in 2007.
Core Characteristics: Foliage is dark green and glossy, remaining ornamental into autumn. Petals are coral pink with creamy streaks and slightly ruffled edges. The base is light yellow, surrounding golden-yellow stamens. No purple flares. The color is bright and stable.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ample sunlight ensures saturated color and an upright plant habit. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Cold hardy, can overwinter safely outdoors in temperate regions; most northern areas require no additional winter protection. Division is best done in autumn. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases.
New Millennium is a classic Itoh peony with eye-catching color and low-maintenance care.
