Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Roger Anderson, registered and released in 2010. It is an Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony). First flowered in 2000 and began propagation and introduction in 2004.
Core Characteristics: Foliage is medium green with a long ornamental period. Flowers open light yellow, quickly fading to creamy white with greenish tones. Inner petals have slightly ruffled edges. Center features golden-yellow stamens, green carpels with white stigmas, and a white sheath.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ample sunlight results in cleaner colors and sturdier stems. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil. Avoid waterlogging. Cold hardy, can overwinter safely outdoors in temperate regions; no additional winter protection needed in northern areas. Possesses good disease resistance.
Lunar Glow is an Itoh peony with unique color-changing flowers and abundant blooms. Cold hardy and disease resistant, requiring no staking, it is an excellent choice for enhancing landscape layering and cut flower production, especially suitable for creating soft-toned borders.
