Variety Origin: An Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) bred by American breeder Krekler in 1958. It is one of the earlier classic Itoh varieties.
Core Characteristics: Petals are silvery white to light pink with a silvery sheen. Edges are deeply incised, creating a “fringed” appearance. Deep red or rose-red flares are present at the base. Stamen tips are deep pink, filaments are cream-colored. Flowers open from deep red buds. The flower form is unique with high recognition.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun to partial shade; ample sunlight ensures bright color and a compact plant habit, while avoiding intense light that might scorch petals. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral soil. Cold hardy. Division is best done in autumn. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases. Possesses strong disease resistance, requiring minimal care.
Raggedy Ann is a classic vintage-style Itoh peony with fringed edges and flares. Its core highlights are the silvery-white to light pink deeply incised petals with deep red or rose-red flares, a compact, support-free habit, and colorful foliage throughout the season.
