Variety Origin: An Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) jointly developed by American breeder Roger Anderson and Swenson Gardens. First flowered in 2013, officially registered and introduced in 2018.
Core Characteristics: Stems are resilient and require no support. New spring foliage is deep wine-red, maturing to glossy dark green, providing year-round ornamental appeal. Petals are light pink, rounded, cup-shaped with slight notches. Rose-red flares are present at the base. Filaments are yellow at the base and pink at the tips. Pistils are green with watermelon-red stigmas.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun. Insufficient light can lead to dull color and reduced flowering. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soil. Ensure timely drainage during rainy seasons. Cold hardy. Possesses relatively strong disease resistance; occasional aphids require timely control.
Rosy Flash is a refined single-flowered Itoh peony, highly recognizable among small, single-flowered Itoh varieties.
