Variety Origin: An Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) bred by American breeder Roger Anderson. Formerly known as Raggedy Ann, renamed and introduced as Rosy Prospect in 2013.
Core Characteristics: Petals are soft pink with deeply incised, “frayed” edges. The color deepens towards the center and base, approaching purple, creating a strong contrast. Stamens are golden-yellow; pistil stigmas are pink.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun. Insufficient light can cause the color to lighten and the incised edges to become less distinct. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral soil. Ensure timely drainage during rainy seasons. Cold hardy; for outdoor overwintering in northern regions, cover roots with 5-10 cm of soil. In hot southern regions, provide shading and cooling. Division in autumn is recommended. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases. Possesses strong disease resistance.
Rosy Prospect is a fringed, semi-double Itoh peony, highly recognizable among semi-double Itoh varieties.
