Description

Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Bill Seidl. Named and propagated by Paul Simmons in New Zealand (registered 2015). It is an open-pollinated seedling from a cross of Seidl’s seedling and ‘Sunny Boy’. Named to commemorate the breeder’s contributions to peony breeding.

Core Characteristics: Stems are thick (may require staking in landscape plantings). Foliage is light green and healthy.

Cultivation Performance: Adaptable to USDA zones 3-8. Prefers full sun to partial shade and loose, well-drained, neutral to slightly acidic soil. Plant in autumn (September-October). Propagate by division (retain 3-5 buds per division). Apply light fertilizer frequently. Drought tolerant, dislikes waterlogging. Flower buds seal well and are storage tolerant, offering good suitability as cut flowers.

Seidl’s Super peony is an exceptional yellow double peony, possessing cut flower, landscape ornamental, and collection value. It grows vigorously and is easy to cultivate, suitable for gardening enthusiasts and professional nurseries.
