Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Don Hollingsworth in 2000, this is a herbaceous hybrid peony (Lactiflora × Paeonia officinalis). It received certification from the American Peony Society in 2008. Named “Summer Glow” for its luminous appearance during the summer blooming season.
Core Characteristics: Stems are flexible yet resistant to lodging. Foliage is emerald green with good texture.
Cultivation Performance: Adaptable to USDA zones 3-8. Prefers full sun and loose, fertile, well-drained neutral soil. Plant in autumn (September-October) with buds covered 3-4cm deep. Propagate by division (retain 2-3 buds per division). Highly drought tolerant. Applying phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before flowering can enhance color brightness.
Summer Glow is a classic coral-colored variety. Its unique color and early summer bloom time make it valuable for both cut flower use and border design. With low maintenance needs, it is suitable for beginners and large-scale landscaping projects.
