Description

Variity Origin: This variety is a herbaceous peony (lactiflora) successfully bred by American breeder H.P. Sass in 1930. Its cultivar name originates from Adonis, the god of plants in Greek mythology, implying that this variety possesses striking ornamental value like the mythical figure. It is listed as a registered variety by the American Peony Society and has been propagated in horticultural circles for a long time.

Core Characteristics: The flower color is an elegant light pink. The flowers are relatively large, with yellow stamens visible between the petals, creating a distinctive pink and yellow color contrast. The flower stems are thick and sturdy, not prone to lodging.

Cultivation Performance: Broad adaptability, can be planted in most regions of northern and southern China. Not demanding regarding soil type; adaptable to sandy, loam, and clay soils. Can grow in full sun or partial shade environments. Autumn sowing is recommended for propagation; direct sowing after seed maturity results in higher survival rates. Keep soil slightly moist in daily care; a moderate amount of general compound fertilizer can be applied during the growing season without over-fertilizing.

Adonis is a classic herbaceous peony variety combining beauty and practicality. With low cultivation difficulty and wide adaptation range, it is a classic pink peony variety long favored in horticultural circles.
