Description

Variety Origin: Bred by American breeder Sass in 1933. Belongs to the herbaceous peony Lactiflora Group. Registered with the American Peony Society (APS). Named after gardening enthusiast Marietta Sisson. A classic late-flowering variety from the 20th century.

Core Characteristics: Stems are resilient and upright, requiring no support. Foliage is dark green and glossy. Late flowering season (late May to early June).

Cultivation Performance: Adaptable to USDA zones 3-8 (tolerates -34°C). Prefers full sun and well-drained, fertile, neutral to slightly acidic soil. Best planted in autumn (September-October). Strong stress resistance, low maintenance. Suitable for cut flowers, border planting, garden specimen planting, and specialty garden collections.
