Variety Origin: Herbaceous hybrid peony (Paeonia ‘Grand Massive’), bred by Swedish breeder Fawkner, registered in 2003 (breeding number RA 14). Named for its grand and massive flower form and full size. It is an authoritative certified high-quality early-flowering double white peony.
Core Characteristics: Stems are thick, leaves light green. Flowers are semi-double, cup-shaped, pure white with no off-colors (center with yellow filaments and pink stigmas). Flower diameter 18cm. Very early flowering (late April to early May). Has a rich sweet fragrance. Blooms profusely.
Cultivation Performance: Cold hardy USDA zones 3-8 (tolerates -30°C). Prefers full sun and well-drained neutral to slightly acidic loam. Lifespan 50-70 years, begins flowering in 2-3 years. Propagate by division in autumn.
