Description

Variety Origin: Sonoma Amethyst is an Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) bred and registered by American breeder Irene Tolomeo in 2001.

Core Characteristics: Petals are a rich lavender-purple with dark red spots at the base. The center features partially wrapped inner petals. Red stigmas contrast vividly with dark green carpels. It has an abundance of lateral buds and is highly floriferous. Stems bear 1-2 flowers. Individual plant bloom period is approximately 3 weeks.

Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun. Insufficient light can lead to faded color, reduced flowering, and a loose plant habit. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral soil. Strictly avoid waterlogging; ensure timely drainage during rainy seasons to prevent root rot. Cold hardy. Division in autumn is recommended. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases. Possesses comprehensive strong resistance.

Sonoma Amethyst is a purple-toned, semi-double Itoh peony.
