Variety Origin: Pastelegance is a tetraploid herbaceous hybrid peony bred by renowned Wisconsin-based breeder Bill Seidl. Its breeding number is “82SDLC-4.” It first flowered in 1987 and was officially registered with the American Peony Society (APS) in 1989.
Core Characteristics: The flower of Pastelegance is its core highlight. Petals are arranged in distinct layers, with broad, expansive outer petals and delicate, intricate inner petals. Stamens are interspersed among the petals, surrounding the visible carpels.
Cultivation Performance: Suitable for planting in loose, fertile, well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 6.5-7.0) sandy loam soil. Avoid heavy clay soil and waterlogging, which can easily lead to root rot.
After receiving the American Peony Society Gold Medal in 2022, the value of Pastelegance peony gained widespread recognition in international horticultural circles.
