Variety Origin: ‘Pink Ardour’ is a typical Itoh (Intersectional) Peony hybrid variety, inheriting the characteristics of hybrids between herbaceous peonies and tree peonies. This variety was officially introduced in 1995.
Core Characteristics: The petals of Pink Ardour peony are loosely arranged in a wavy pattern surrounding a center of prominent golden-yellow stamens. Emerging foliage is copper-red or red-purple, turning dark green later. Leaves are compound and elliptical.
Cultivation Performance: Outstanding cold hardiness, tolerating -29°C. Choose a sheltered location to avoid strong winds damaging the flowers. Broad soil adaptability; can grow in chalk, clay, loam, and other soil types. The core requirement is moist, well-drained soil.
As a high-quality Itoh peony variety, ‘Pink Ardour’ combines the advantages of tree peonies (large, showy flowers) with those of herbaceous peonies (vigorous growth, easy care).
