Variety Origin: Rosy Future is an Itoh hybrid peony (Intersectional Peony) bred by California-based breeder Tolomeo. Registered in 2005, first flowered in 2003, and began propagation in 2004.
Core Characteristics: Petals are deep rose-red, glossy, with notched edges. Deeper rose-red flares are present at the base. Stamens are normal with abundant pollen; filaments, carpels, and stigmas are yellow. Stems typically bear about 2 buds; lateral buds can extend the flowering period. When fully open, the yellow center contrasting with the rose-red flares creates a prominent visual effect.
Cultivation Performance: Prefers full sun; ample sunlight ensures bright color and stable flower production. Suited for loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral soil. Cold hardy, can overwinter outdoors in northern regions. In hot southern areas, provide shading and cooling. Division in autumn is recommended. Avoid continuous cropping to prevent soil-borne diseases. Possesses strong disease resistance.
Rosy Future is a classic bright rose-red single-flowered Itoh peony, excellent in both recognition and practicality among single-flowered Itoh varieties.
